A meeting of U21 Health Science Group (U21HSG) International Exchange Project managers was held online at 18:00 Beijing time (10:00 GMT time) on March 9, 2022.
Attendees of the meeting included Corrina Greenwood (U21HSG Operations Manager) Rosie Boodell (U21HSG Administrative Assistant) and international exchange program directors from nine universities, including the University of Dublin, the University of Lund, the University of Birmingham and the University of Edinburgh. The participants of Fudan University were Xu Hongyang and Wang Xi from Office of International Cooperation, Shanghai Medical College.
The first topic of the meeting was the U21HSG Multilateral Clinical Internship Program for Medical Students. To date, 11 universities have signed a new round of expressions of interest for the project, which will be valid until November 2024. The implementation of the project is facing great resistance due to the global pandemic. Currently, only the affiliated hospitals of University College Dublin, Korea University, Catholic University of Chile, Lund University and University of Monterey can normally accept overseas medical students for clinical practice.
The next two topics were the U21HSG Annual Meeting and Summer School. The 2022 annual meeting is scheduled to be hosted by the University of Auckland in Auckland from September 5th to 9th, with the theme of Health Equity. Registration for the conference will open in June 2022.The 2022 U21HSG Summer School will be held by the University of Dublin. The university has submitted a summer school plan to the U21HSG Council, initially scheduled for July 4-15, 2022, in the form of offline or a combination of online and offline.
In addition, a number of international exchange program managers who attended the meeting introduced the current opening of international exchange programs in their respective universities, and discussed the possibility of developing nursing student exchange programs and medical students online exchange programs.
U21HSG is a network of university organizations in the field of health sciences with members from 19 universities around the world. U21HSG is also one of the collaborative groups of U21, which provides a platform for medical schools of member universities to explore collaborative research, information exchange and resource sharing. Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University has been actively participating in various activities of U21HSG for many years.
