Center for Cardiac Valve Technology Research

The Center for Cardiac Valve Technology Research of Zhongshan Hospital, affiliated to Fudan University, is co-constructed by several companies including Suzhou Jiecheng Medical Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Xinjite Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Hanyu Medical Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Newmai Medical Technology Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Minimally Invasive Xintong Medical Technology Co., Ltd. The Director of the Research Center is Professor Chunsheng Wang who is also serving as the Director of the Department of Cardiology at Zhongshan Hospital. 


Every year Zhongshan Hospital has over 2500 cardiac valve surgeries, making it one of the largest and most advanced valve centers in China. The Center for Cardiac Valve Technology Research combines the clinical resource advantages of Zhongshan Hospital, the research advantages of Fudan University, and the production advantages of multiple innovative enterprises to form a research and development base that integrates technology advancement, equipment research and development, and personnel cultivation.

  

  

Key Laboratory of Smart Drug Delivery, 

Fudan University

The establishment of the Key Laboratory of Smart Drug Delivery (Fudan University), organized by the Ministry of Education in China, was officially approved in 2010. The construction plan was approved by experts associated with the Ministry of Education on 6th May 2011 and the construction of the laboratory was officially launched in August 2011. According to the requirements and objectives laid out by the Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory of Smart Drug Delivery has carried out various tasks such as capacity building, scientific research, personnel cultivation, academic exchange, and open discussion on research topics. 


In acknowledgement of the remarkable results shown by the laboratory within the first two years of its formation, the Key Laboratory was recognized by the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Education in 2013 and passed assessment and evaluation by the Ministry of Education in September 2016. 


In 2018, in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory underwent a change of its administration staff. The Director of the Key Laboratory presently is Professor Chen Jiang , whereas the Deputy Directors include Professor Wei Wu and Professor Wei Lu and the Chairman of the Academic Committee is Academician Jian Ding.

With the basis of relying on the discipline of pharmacy at Fudan University, the laboratory has integrated the scientific research strengths of multiple disciplines such as polymer science, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, molecular imaging, pharmacology, and formed a research system with a high degree of interdisciplinary cooperation in order to bring about rapid research ideas, development, and achievements.

  


  

The Center of Artificial Intelligence Technology Research 

of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Diseases,

The Center of Artificial Intelligence Technology Research of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Diseases is based in Zhongshan Hospital affiliated with Fudan University, and is co-founded by Shanghai Jialian Medical Technology Co., Ltd. The Director of the Research Centre is Professor Xiangdong Wang who is also serving as the Director of the Experimental Center of Zhongshan Hospital. 


The Research Center aims to create Artificial Intelligence Technology for the 3-D integrated clinical pathway of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. It conducts research and development of key technologies such as AI Imaging Diagnosis of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Diseases, Electrocardiogram AI Diagnosis, and AI Medical Decision-Making in order to provide mature and supporting technologies, standards, and new innovations for the industrialization of Clinical Intelligence Technology.

  

  

  

  

Shanghai Key Laboratory for Visual Impairment and Reconstruction, 

Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University

The Shanghai Key Laboratory for Visual Impairment and Reconstruction of the Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University aims to establish a high-level basic and clinical research base, medical personnel training base, and academic exchange center in ophthalmology and visual science. In response to the major issues in ophthalmology and visual science, the Laboratory actively promotes and carries out clinical and basic research on neuro-ophthalmopathy related to visual impairment.

It also strives to make breakthroughs in the etiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the disease, and laying the foundation for low vision rehabilitation and visual reconstruction. 

The Laboratory provides support to the Eye and ENT Hospital in the establishment of an internationally renowned frontier of ophthalmology innovation and research, as a modern medical research platform and translational medicine platform to support the diagnosis and treatment of difficult ophthalmic and visual diseases throughout China. 

  


  

Institute of Biomedical Sciences-

Shanghai Major Disease Proteome Research Professional Technical Service Platform

The Institute of Biomedical Sciences established the ‘Shanghai Major Disease Proteome Research Technical Service Platform’ with the aim to provide high-end biomedical technology services. Since 2005, through years of cooperation and co-construction with various departments and affiliated hospitals of Fudan University, it has gradually formed six sub-platforms in genomics and epigenetics, molecular cytology, structure and drugs, proteomics, and multi-functional imaging. It is now regarded as the ‘Public Service Technology Platform’ of Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University.


Several of the technical sub-platforms of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, including the ‘post-translational modification technology of functional proteomics based on acetylation’, have been highly regarded in China and abroad. The Platform supports and promotes quality research and progress in Fudan University and Shanghai Medical College, with an emphasis on the development of translational medicine. Since its establishment, the Platform has supported the publication of several articles which have reached international acclaim, including 2 articles published in Science , 3 articles published in Cell, and more than ten other articles with an impact factor of 10 or above.

  

  

Institute of Antibiotics Medical Center

of Huashan Hospital,

The Institute of Antibiotics Medical Center of Huashan Hospital, is one of the first institutes which provide doctoral programs in the discipline of infectious diseases, is the key laboratory of Antibiotic Clinical Pharmacology of the National Health Commission and is one of the first batch of confirmed clinical pharmacological bases for anti-infective drugs. It leads the ‘China Anti-Microbial Surveillance Network (CHINET)’ and was involved in the establishment of the bacterial infection and drug resistance prevention branch of the ‘Chinese Medical Association (CMA)’. 

The Institute has been committed to the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, clinical pharmacology research of anti-infective drugs and the prevention and treatment of bacterial drug resistance. Its clinical practice is closely combined with experimental research, and it has made remarkable contributions in the clinical application of antibiotics as well as in improving the diagnosis and treatment of bacterial and fungal infections in China and abroad. 


  

Key Laboratory of Public Health Safety (Fudan University)

The Key Laboratory of Public Health Safety was established in 2006 and is one of the most important research bases in the field of public health and safety in universities throughout China. Keeping in mind the issues of international public health and global safety, the Laboratory is currently centering on the national strategic needs of ‘Implementing a Healthy China’ and ‘One Belt, One Road’ while focusing on the research directions of ‘Epidemiology and Intervention of Major Infectious Diseases’ and ‘Environmental Safety and Population Health’, and carrying out interdisciplinary and innovative research inside and outside the university. 

  

  


Key Laboratory of Health Technology Assessment

The Key Laboratory of Health Technology Assessment of the Ministry of Health (Fudan University) is the earliest established health technology assessment institution in China. 


It is committed to conducting scientific research, education and training, technical services, and exchange and cooperation in health technology assessment, providing health technology assessment evidence for various levels of government departments, medical institutions, and other relevant organizations such as health and medical security, promoting disciplinary development, and promoting policy transformation.The Key Laboratory of Health Technology Assessment is a multidisciplinary collaboration platform, covering disciplines such as social medicine and health management, epidemiology, and health statistics, and is affiliated with the School of Public Health of Fudan University.
